Ssekandi Godfrey: A Beacon of Hope and Determination

Ssekandi Godfrey, born 23 years ago in Kampala and raised in the rural village of Bukooka deep in Mityana, faced significant challenges from a young age. Coming from a humble and economically disadvantaged family of five as the second born, his journey through education was marked by immense hardships. With his parents struggling to make ends meet, Ssekandi often had to walk three miles to attend school. Persistent poverty meant missing classes frequently, leading to academic struggles. Despite these obstacles, Ssekandi never wavered in his determination.

"I thank God that I never thought of giving up in life," reflects Ssekandi. "I always knew that one day, I would break the cycle of poverty not just for myself but also for those around me."

Driven by this unwavering resolve, Ssekandi saw education as his ticket to change. Through sheer determination and with the grace of God, he became the first in his family to complete A-level education and eventually earn a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Social Administration.

"My passion," says Ssekandi earnestly, "is to be a solution and a source of help for those around me, empowering them to create solutions to life's challenges. I never want any child to endure what I went through."

Ssekandi attributes much of his success and motivation to the support and opportunities provided by the FALH Charity Foundation. "They have turned my passion into a reality," he acknowledges gratefully.

"A negative-minded person is a dream killer," Ssekandi often advises. "If you are pregnant with a dream, feed your mind with positivity and make God your priority."

As a key member and leader within the FALH Charity Foundation, Ssekandi Godfrey exemplifies resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to transforming lives. His journey from adversity to empowerment serves as a powerful testament to the impact of determination and support in breaking the cycle of poverty and inspiring hope in others.
